I hope you’ve been enjoying my Blogging 101 series! If you have any questions about blogging, please ask me in the comments or email me!
So you want to Pin an image from your blog but you don’t want the image to display in your post? Maybe an extra long image with text on it, perfect for Pinterest? I want to show you two ways to hide a Pinterest image in a WordPress post.
There are two simple ways to do it.
1. Upload the image directly to Pinterest and manually add the URL to your post.
2. ‘Hide’ the image in your blog post.
Uploading the pin and adding a URL is the easiest way to make your pin link back to your post, but if you want your readers to be able to pin a different image from what appears on your blog, you will need to hide the image in the back end. That involves adding a little extra HTML to your post. It’s easier than it sounds.
OPTION A: ADD A URL IN PINTEREST
1. UPLOAD YOUR IMAGE
Click the PLUS symbol and upload the image from your computer.
2. ADD URL
Enter the URL you want the pin to link back to and hit “Continue”.
OPTION B: HIDE THE IMAGE IN A POST
Say you want to have a long image or an image with text on it as an option for pinning, but you don’t like the way those images look in a post. For example, you might want the image on the left to appear on your blog post, but you want to Pin the image on the right.
You can hide a Pinterest image in WordPress back end and it won’t appear on your published post. But when you click the “Pin it” button, you will have the option of pinning the image you have hidden.
1. TEXT EDITING MODE
In the back end, where you write your blog post text, there are two editing modes. One is VISUAL and the other is TEXT. You want to be in the TEXT editing mode. If you have a fusion builder, simply add a “code block”.
2. ADD THE CODE
Add the following code to the end of your body text or enter it into your code block.
3. PIN IT!
Click on the “Pin it” or “Pin from here” button on your toolbar and choose the image you want to Pin to Pinterest.
It’s as easy as that! Let me know in the comments how you go and if you have any other questions about hiding images in your WordPress post. Thanks for being here! XO
